But any variant works.Ticket to Ride is the ultimate game for people who love trains and board games. We found its best to play "most routes completed" bonus over longest route because the 3rd player will not try to complete a long route. The dummy player normally runs out of trains when we are down to our last 6-8 trains left. After test playing it about 20-30 games we feel we have tuned it enough. You never know when a route will come up that cuts you off so you end up playing differently then with just 2 players. Its a rather large deck and takes a while to cut out and sleeve up, but it gives you the feeling of a 3rd player. If the dummy player pulls a 4-5 train route it skips is next turn, and if it pulls a 6 train route it skips is next 2 turns. It has every route in the game in it, some "Dummy player skips a turn", and some "discard cards # & #" in it to act like a 3rd player. The deck is just printed cards (with excel) we put in a sleeve with a magic the gathering card so we could shuffle easier. So after a lot of test play we made an "Dummy player deck" so we could play like it was 3 player. To many games of each player just doing their own thing. But the original version is kinda bland with 2 players. To much of the "let me see if I can find where this city is" for her taste over the original game. ![]() My wife loved the Original version but didn't like the other maps as much. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
